Customs strike in Calais and Dunkirk

News of the 11/03/2019

Since March 4, customs officers have been on the "zeal strike", causing major disruption to the movement of heavy goods vehicles.

To protest against the lack of resources allocated to the border areas with England and to show what will happen after Brexit, the customs officers are on strike for an indefinite period. The trucks are now blocked for more than 10 hours instead of the usual half hour representing a loss of 600 €.

Customs officers want a revaluation of their hours worked and additional resources. The movement could stop tomorrow according to the results of the meeting with Gerald Darmanin, the Minister of Public Accounts.
