Sweden to set up roads for induction charging

News of the 23/04/2019

At first, a 1.6 km section will be equipped with this technology before a large-scale deployment.

Induction charging known to the general public for mobile phones makes it possible to charge batteries at short distances without the need to connect the system to be charged.

In the context of Sweden, copper coils are placed under the pavement at a depth of 8 cm. This technology is primarily intended for heavy vehicles (truck, bus, etc.).

After the test phase on the 1.6 km section, 2000 km of roads will be equipped for a total budget of 3 billion euros.
