Major invention in road safety: the three-point belt is 60 years old this year.
Although the result of several different projects, the modern three-point belt that we know today was invented by the engineer Nils Bohlin from Volvo.
This equipment currently equips all cars, trucks and 60% of the cars sold in Europe. Since 1990, Volvo has equipped all its cars with this equipment, which is why 100% of Scandinavian coaches have three-point belts.
According to various studies, the three-point belt is the road safety equipment that has saved the most lives.
