An important traffic route between the north and the south of Europe has been cut since Sunday afternoon. This is the Gotthard road tunnel in Switzerland, which measures almost 17 km and is one of the longest in the world. A 25 m crack formed in the tunnel ceiling, causing concrete debris to fall. The Gotthard tunnel is expected to remain closed until the end of the week, according to AFP.
