Long-haul driving imposes major daily constraints on transport professionals, starting with access to sanitary facilities during their routes. To address this recurring problem, Anjou Conception Sanitaire has chosen to apply its long-standing expertise in industrial bodywork to the world of heavy goods vehicles. By transforming the interior space of the Daf XG and XG+ models, the Angers-based company demonstrates that it is possible to create a fully functional shower area right in the driver's cab, thus opening up new possibilities for driver well-being at work.
The design of this ingenious system required extensive technical consideration to preserve the overall ergonomics of the cockpit. Integrated on the passenger side, the structure incorporates a shower tray that folds completely vertically against the bulkhead, allowing the seat to remain usable when the shower is not in use. This achievement stems from the expertise acquired by the company's directors, Philippe Boudaud and François Lefebvre, particularly through the design of trailers for transporting horses. This initial experience demanded mastery of complex structures, precision welding, and the implementation of sophisticated fluid management systems.
From a technical standpoint, the system relies on solutions proven in the recreational vehicle sector. The onboard system includes a 160-liter fresh water tank, coupled with a wastewater holding tank. A pump unit and an integrated water heater, equipped with a side-adjustable thermostat, ensure optimal user comfort regardless of external conditions. Offered as a complete kit priced at around €9,000 excluding VAT and installation, this system can be fitted directly in the brand's workshops or by a partner body shop.
Beyond simply improving hygiene for long journeys, this innovation positions itself as a strategic lever for making road transport jobs more attractive. By offering drivers the possibility of washing safely inside a locked vehicle, this French solution anticipates the expectations of a profession seeking modernity and increased safety in European rest areas.
