Compulsory pneumatic pressure monitors

From this month of July, trucks and trailers registered in the European Union will have to be equipped with a pressure detector on their tyres.

Drivers must be alerted in the event of a loss of 20% of the pressure within 10 minutes or in the event of malfunction of the detectors. These obligations are governed by European regulation R141, which was revised in 2019.

According to ETRA, the European federation of tire manufacturers, 15% of accidents involving heavy goods vehicles are linked to a lack of tire pressure. This will also allow a reduction in fuel consumption.
