From the age of 60, truck drivers must undergo a medical examination every two years to renew their license, as opposed to the five years required before that age. However, many forget to do this before their birthday.
A driver from Loire-Atlantique drove for several months with an invalid license after turning 60, thinking his license was valid until 2025. He was not aware of the rule and had never discussed it with his colleagues.
This driver had to stop for several days to get an emergency medical appointment. His company had not realized that he would turn 60 before his license expired in 2025, and had not notified him in time. Fortunately, he had no incidents during this period.
He hopes his story will serve as a warning to other drivers to remember to check their status as they approach 60.
