Free fall for Eurotunnel traffic

News of the 05/02/2021

The Getlink group experienced a traffic collapse on the Eurotunnel in January.

Following Brexit, traffic fell by -37% for trucks and -71% for passenger vehicles. Getlink explains the drop in freight transport by the fact that companies carried out storage before the Brexit agreement and the obligation of negative PCR tests of less than 72 hours for drivers.

The COVID-19 pandemic has also resulted in numerous government restrictions on the French and English side and thus reduced tourist transport.

The Getlink group will publish its results on February 25, 2021 for the financial year 2020 and this announcement will therefore not reassure the financial partners.
