A Syrian national and two Egyptians were severely sentenced by the Auxerre Criminal Court for a series of thefts committed on the A6 motorway. These individuals were found guilty of having looted goods from heavy goods vehicles parked in rest areas on around thirty occasions. According to information reported by lyonne.fr, the prosecutor's representative rejected the statements of the accused, who claimed to be mere executors within a vast criminal network.

The charges against the three men are serious: they were involved in 31 separate offences, which led to their continued detention. The first individual, aged 26, was sentenced to 20 months in prison. The second, aged 23, was sentenced to 14 months in prison. As for the third, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison. In addition to these prison sentences, the court imposed a three-year ban on French territory for each of the convicted persons.

This case highlights the challenges facing authorities in combating organised theft networks on motorways. The sentences handed down reflect the seriousness of the acts committed and the importance of deterring such criminal activity. The convicts will have to serve their sentences before being expelled from French territory, in accordance with the court's decision.
