The collapse of the Genoa viaduct in Italy has sparked a wave of concern about the condition of all French bridges.
France has 20 bridges in the state of alteration (category 3) but whose maintenance is not of an urgent nature. Two other bridges are in category 3U and require urgent work.
This is the Caronte viaduct on the A55 and Echinghen viaduct on the A16. Work is underway on the first and others are planned on the second, soon to be closed at night.
