News of the 02/06/2023

To achieve the objectives of the national low-carbon strategy set by the government, road freight transport will have to invest 52.6 billion euros in energy transition. This was revealed by a "Task-Force" made up of carriers, builders and energy companies, after 18 months of work.

Alternative solutions to diesel have a higher purchase and infrastructure cost than traditional fuel. According to the joint press release from the FNTR, OTRE and TLF, it will be necessary to spend €11.9 billion to switch to NGV/BioGNV, €23.5 billion for electricity and €17.1 billion for hydrogen between 2023 and 2040.

Faced with these considerable expenses, carriers are asking for financial support from the State, local authorities, the banking sector, principals and consumers. They believe that they cannot assume the transition to cleaner and more environmentally friendly vehicles alone.
