The Swedish manufacturer Einride will be able to test its autonomous T-pod truck on Swedish roads starting this autumn 2018. Initially, 200 trucks will be deployed.
Manufacturers do not intend to miss the wave of autonomous vehicles and accelerate their timing of marketing.
Unlike other manufacturers like Tesla for example, Einride has chosen not to integrate a cabin to its T-pod. An operator can still take control of the truck remotely.
The truck can carry 15 pallets for a total of 20 tons and 200 T-pod trucks will be deployed between the cities of Gothenburg and Helsingborg for a journey of 215 km.
